Desco’s participation in Sirha Lyon, considered one of the most important international events for the HORECA sector, was a great success.
The trade fair is a 140,000 square metre stage where the excellence of professional catering is presented.
The 2023 edition of Sirha Lyon ended a few weeks ago and was attended by more than 4,000 exhibitors and brands. It has been a special event: in fact, the show celebrated its 40-year anniversary. First held in 1983 under the name ‘Salon des métiers de bouche’, Sirha has become a must-attend event for the food service and hospitality industry, known for international competitions such as the Bocuse d’Or, the International Catering Cup and the Pastry World Cup.
The World Cup is a worldwide challenge representing all the confectionery professions. More than just a competition, it is a new way of conceiving this art. During the competition, 3 pastry chefs (an ice cream maker, a sugar expert and a chocolatier) join forces to face different tests in their respective fields. Desco supports as a sponsor this innovative vision of the Pastry World Cup, which aims to take pastry to a completely new level.
Global confectionery today is at a crossroads: more committed, more responsible, more environmentally aware. The goal is to create a confectionery that respects nature and its specificities, working to promote mouth-watering emotions that evoke the diverse cultural richness of our planet.
At Sirha Lyon, Desco presented the MyBlock range of monobloc kitchens. The result of Desco’s research and development centre, it was conceived to provide every chef with a working tool that can enhance the preparation of dishes. MyBlock is a combination of design, robustness and advanced technology. It allows customisation of kitchen spaces, choosing between different configurations: wall-mounted or island, with one or two cooking lines. The single, thick stainless steel worktop accommodates all utilities: gas, electric or both. The skilful workmanship of the stainless steel, which stands for toughness and strength, highlights every detail of the modular kitchen. Neutral cells with rounded corners allow for more effective cleaning.

Still at Sirha Lyon, Desco presented the new SFERA by Emo Design cooking range.
This new range stems from a precise need of the international market, to have more flexibility in composing restaurant environments and beyond. As we all know, professional kitchens are not all the same, they do not all have the same equipment and above all, they do not all have the same spaces. Every country has its own distinct food culture and, consequently, a need for equipment suitable for the preparation of its typical products. “SFERA” can perfectly adapt to the needs of starred Chefs as well as to those of the most renowned Chefs, and even to those of the most typical Bistrot or restaurant or family trattoria. The new features that “SFERA” presents are impressive, as for instance the new electric Fry-top with glass-ceramic cooking surface.
Its design has also been revised with a modern, contemporary look. But above all, SFERA allows the kitchen to be composed vertically and horizontally. Worktops and a large frontal area allows excess starch to be removed during cooking.
